RICHARD BONA

Bona Makes You Sweat - Live (Decca): B-

Bonas first alive album is a glib introduction to his magnificent talent as a bassist, singer and bandleader. Bonas ability to synthesize elements of African music (hes from Cameroon), salsa, wind and pop into a mind-blowing hybrid made his previous albums world-jazz landmarks that charmed the straits as well as the feet. With its unrelenting dance-floor focus and career-survey feel, Bona Makes You Sweat fails to step up to any of them. Download: Kalabancoro.

With his delicate guitar playing and impressionist compositions, Nicolas de Angelis has helped to create a modern French romanticism. A classically trained musician, he's performed on pic lots by Michel Legrand and Jean-Claude Petit and in the recording studio with Yves Montand, Claude Aznevour, Michael Berger, Yves Duteil, Nilda Fernandez, Enzo Enzo, and Sylvie Vartan.

De Angelis has been every bit successful acting his own compositions. His debut album, Quelgues Noyes Pour Anna, was certified au a calendar month after its release in 1981. His tenth solo album, Les Plus Belles Melodies Religieuses a la Guitare, released in 2000, featured interpretations of what he called the "most beautiful religious melodies."

Born in Saint-Cloud, a benjamin West Parisian suburban area along the shores of the Reine River, de Angelis studied guitar at the Paris Academy from the years of ten-spot. Hailed as one of the modern engender of French romanticistic guitar players while silent in his teens, he was playacting in Parisian cabarets as an accompanyist for such French pop stars as Julian Clerc, Sylvie Vartan, and Fabienne Thibault before his eighteenth birthday.

“The indie had no problem releasing Get Awkward as it was given to them and is only too happy to be putting out this Get Damaged EP so America can finally hear the songs that were banned for being too violent”, states a release on behalf of the band.

Titled 'Get Damaged', the EP is currently available via iTunes containing 'Becky', 'Black Hole' and 'Blow Yr Mind 'which were all previously unavailable in the U.S.
